WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Recently, Berta Campbell, one of our Kitchen & Bath designers came in with a beautiful antique shelf she found at a yard sale. Right away she got to work pulling swatches and samples for her dream kitchen, inspired by this beautiful treasure. The conversation moved quickly into talking about how often people come in when starting their kitchen and bath design or remodel process with a very specific source of inspiration. It amazes me how our team of designers is able to take the piece of pottery, a color or a painting, whatever it is that inspires our clients, and turn it into a beautiful new living space. A space that reflects that feeling and inspiration every time you walk in the room.
Bring us your inspiration and let us turn it into a dream space that you will treasure for years to come!

The kitchen truly is the heart of every home, the place where we all gather and share some of our greatest moments. You can maximize the function of your kitchen by planning for the social aspect of it. Below are a few great tips to get you started.
|
A KITCHEN CENTERED AROUND FAMILY
TIP #1: Think seating! Cabinetry comes in so many configurations these days, working seating into storage solutions is a great way to address 2 key issues in most kitchens. Bench seats, islands that accommodate up to 8 - dream it and we can design it!
TIP #2: Create an easy to use food prep area. Keeping in mind that multiple people, maybe children will be helping with prep, it is nice to design your kitchen with either an island, peninsula or multi-level cabinetry.
TIP #3: Friendly and Forgiving Materials. Really thinking about how your cabinetry, countertops and floors will be used in the kitchen will help you select the perfect materials for your space and use. Concrete is a perfect example of this. Most people don't think of it as a countertop solution, but it provides a beautiful surface that is durable and quite forgiving to any wear and tear. In fact, most people believe it looks better with age. Concrete can be customized to match virtually any color and texture and materials can be added to it to customize it even further.
TIP #4: Change it up! This doesn't have to mean tearing down walls. It could be as simple as shifting your seating area, or more complex like changing the placement of your appliances or yes, it could mean tearing down walls! Whatever degree of change you choose, it can really open you up to a new and wonderful way to make the most of your kitchen space, seeing it from a new point-of-view.
TIP #5: Color. Don't be afraid of color, embrace it! Explore the latest trends at the link below, or bring anything in that you are inspired by and our designers can help you conceptualize your design based on that and the overall feel of your home.

MAKING IT PERSONAL WITH BATHROOM FAUCETS & SINKS
When it comes to bath sinks and faucets, variety and personalization seem to be the hottest buzzwords, as consumers seek products that will cater to their unique needs, tastes and budgets. Traditional styles, clean lines and eco-friendly choices remain popular, though consumers are personalizing their baths with unusual shapes and finishes and the occasional splash of color for added drama.
Below are some of today's hottest trends in bath sinks, faucets and lavs:
- While traditional styles still seem to dominate the market, traditional has become broader in definition as the personalization trend continues to play a strong role in bath sink and faucet choices.
- Clean lines and "safe" colors such as white are in fashion, though black and gray are showing up more as a way to add drama to the space. Gray is becoming the new bisque in bathrooms.
- Alternative materials and unusually shaped sinks are also being incorporated into baths to transform the sink area into a focal point.
- Chrome, brushed or satin nickel remain among the most popular finishes, though unique finishes are also turning up as a way to add interest.
- Faucets that are compliant with the EPA's WaterSense program have increasingly become the industry norm, and consumers expect that they will not have to sacrifice performance for water savings.
- Value-priced products remain hot, as consumers continue to spend cautiously.

IS YOUR ENTRY DOOR INVITING?
Have you ever walked up to a home and been confused as to which door is the right door to use? Our lives and home layouts have changed so much since most of our entry doors were installed that often times this can be a point of confusion and almost seem uninviting or intimidating to guests. Lets look at the basics to see if we can find the best entry door solution for your home.
- How do you use your doors? For a lot of homeowners their front entry door is not the primary entrance into their home. Many use a side, mudroom or garage door. Some prefer to use a slider or back entry. That's fine, but it might effect the best choice and where your put your focus when selecting your doors.
- Is your entry door functional? So many of us use our entry door so infrequently that when the time comes to open it up, it no longer functions properly. This is important to keep an eye on, as entry doors with ice dams over them can often be a source for leaks when the snowy season hits.
- Are you looking for a "wow" factor? If your entry door is the main door into your home, it is a great opportunity to make a wonderful first impression to your guests. We work with the very best manufacturers with many creative and truly stunning entry door solutions.
- Want your entry door to add some light to your home? Full glass solutions are available in a number of decorative designs to help your entry door not only make a statement, but also serve as an additional way to get beautiful natural light and warmth from the sun into your home.
- Looking for low-maintenance entry door solutions? Your windows, roofing and siding manufacturers have all given you fabulous low-maintenance solutions, why not search for the same solutions in your entry door? With the ability to combine a number of exterior solutions with the beauty of wood to match your interiors, we have the perfect combination for every home. Come see a sampling of your selection on display in the showroom today.

TOP 5 TRENDS IN BATHROOM REMODELING
Whether through small changes or lavish remodeling, your bathroom can be transformed into a haven of relaxation.
- Artistic Hardware. Your hardware is a relatively small renovation detail that can have a HUGE effect on the overall room. What a great place to be artistic, playful or bold with your bathroom remodel.
- Organizational Storage. Allow your storage system to become part of the overall design of the room. Open shelving, seated benches with under storage, discrete waste recepticals all make for a beautiful, functional space.
- Bathroom Building Material Trend: Wood. Wood helps dampen the cold, hard, echoing effect bathrooms can sometimes create, and makes it a more inviting space.
- Soft Lighting. Lighting trends for bathrooms are involving multiple light systems: bright, natural lighting for applying makeup, and softer lighting and dimming switches for nighttime relaxation.
- Bathroom Color Trends. An increasing neutral color palette of beiges, olives and pale tones are on trend in an effort to reinforce a calm, spa-like feel. This allows smaller interchangeable accent pieces to bring color to the space.
